Setup guide for a plain text thesis

To write a plain text thesis you need the following free and open-source software:

• a plain text editor if you don’t have one yet (I like using Atom)
• the file conversion system pandoc
• the reference manager Zotero
• (optional) for managing the files stored in a Git repository I use the Github desktop application
